The Time of the Lukewarm Church is Over.

St. Thomas More and St. John Fisher.

Many are feeling discouraged or even despair that many cardinals – including Vincent Nichols, are supportive of the notion that individuals should be allowed to decide for themselves whether or not they should receive our Lord in the Eucharist despite being in a state of mortal sin. But I am beginning to see something else I never dreamed I would see so soon in my lifetime.

Every time I check my Facebook or Twitter feed, every faithful catholic blog I read, every faithful priest, or lay person I come across is suddenly, all at once proclaiming the truth of the indissolubility of the sacrament of marriage, the healing freedom of the sacrament of Confession and our Lord’s real presence in the sacrament of Holy Eucharist.

Whether it be a gentle line or two in their own twitter feeds, or a reply correcting a heretic spreading false messages of fake mercy, the faithful are fighting tooth and nail to shout the truth of the Catholic church from the rooftops.

Most are delivering it in a gentle but firm way, and those who are finding themselves consumed by frustration and passion are learning quickly the correct, informed, prayerful composed approach with which to deliver the truth.

Before the Synod I had NEVER heard a priest speak on contraception, adultery, homosexuality or even marriage in general. Now that is all I seem to be hearing! It seems to me that the Holy Spirit has found a voice in the faithful who are no longer afraid to speak the truth in these matters. Yes, you will lose some friends, you might lose family, you will definitely lose members of your congregation, but the time of the lukewarm church is over. It is time to decide to live for radically for Christ – or just get out.

Now is the time for a strong, faithful church full of people in love with Jesus Christ, living radically counter-cultural prayerful lives in which the Gospel can be clearly witnessed by those around them in the normal day to day aspects of their daily living. Now is the time for those who wish to step courageously out onto the road to holiness – to sainthood – even to martyrdom: dying to themselves so they can live more fully for Christ.

Saints Louis and Zelie Martin

This synod really is the last roll of the dice for the likes of Kasper and his cronies. In 5 or 10 years the majority of the Spirit of Vatican 2 generation will be dead, and that shameful period in the life of the church will become history. But I am 35, and I am strong. My relationship/prayer life with Jesus and His Mother is strong. My kids are being brought up secure in the truth. We are the future of the church.

God gave me a big mouth and I’m not afraid to use it! Ha!Ha! I am not afraid of proclaiming the truth – whatever the cost 🙂  Truth is absolute. You can’t have versions of the truth. That is called Relativism and had been condemned as one of the biggest evils of the 20th century. ++Vincent Nichols it seems is afraid of this absolute truth. Remember how he reacted when the 500 priests asked him to re-affirm the churches teaching on marriage? He panicked. He faltered. Why? Because he knows that there is very little he can do to stop the power of the Holy Spirit moving among his priests 🙂

Priests, Bishops, Deacons, Nuns, Mothers, Fathers, Husbands, Wives, Children… Do Not Be Afraid! Ha!Ha! Pray. Become the saints of tomorrow. Do not be afraid to choose the road to holiness. Once you step onto it you will find you will never walk it alone.

Pray, proclaim the truth, live the Gospel. Do Not Be Afraid! Begin to usher in the new springtime of the Catholic Church.

Saints Louis and Zelie Martin, pray for us.

Saint Therese of Lisieux, pray for us.

Saint John Paul II, pray for us.

Saints John Fisher and Thomas More, pray for us.

  1. Great article Clare, I wholeheartedly concur! In fact in my parish for the first time in years last Sunday our pp spoke out against cardinals and bishops who play games with Church Teaching and hate the Traditional Latin Mass! I couldn’t believe my ears! God bless.

p.s. In reference to the third person of the Blessed Trinity its ‘Holy Spirit’ not ‘holy spirit’.

  2. Your Ha! Ha! reminded me of Chesterton’s Lepanto:

Don John calling through the blast and the eclipse
Crying with the trumpet, with the trumpet of his lips,
    Trumpet that sayeth ha!
    Domino gloria!
    Don John of Austria
    Is shouting to the ships.

Don John’s hunting, and his hounds have bayed—
Booms away past Italy the rumour of his raid
    Gun upon gun, ha! ha!
    Gun upon gun, hurrah!
    Don John of Austria
    Has loosed the cannonade.

  3. I’m reminded of a conversation my friend and I had this past weekend, and he made a remarkable observation. It is said that only God can take a bad situation and make something good come out of it. My friend surmised that Vatican II and the subsequent fallout happened because God wanted us to understand what traditional Catholic teachings actually meant. Whether it was meant to or not, I feel that for many of us post-VII Catholics, we’re more committed to being faithful to the Church because we have taken the lessons learned in the fallout to heart in spite of the large numbers of people who have used VII to justify their heresies. Your comment about your Facebook and Twitter feeds featuring contemporary bloggers who stand up to pop culture and proclaim the sanctity of marriage is a shining example of that.

  4. Great article-and this from a 35 yr old!Yes the Second Vatican Hippies have had their day in the sun and are fast departing to final judgement!Keep the Faith for Traditional Catholicism is the future of The Mystical Body of Christ.God Bless.Philip Johnson.

  6. We recently had a referendum here in ‘Catholic’ Ireland…….. here is my response.
There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death (Pro 16:25).
That which cannot produce life inevitably leads to death, like gay marriage. We have just witnessed in Ireland a nation of baptized pagans, making godless decisions based on the principles of this world and not on the principles of Christ (Col 2:8). This is a nation that has not only rejected that which God has instituted, they have in doing so rejected God.
And as St Paul said in Romans, ‘Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion. Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind; to do what ought not to be done.
As King David said ‘I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of the Lord than to dwell in the tents of the wicked’ and here we are living in what was once a nation of Saints and Scholars, that once tasted the goodness of the Lord but has now ‘gone back to wallowing in the mud’ (2 Peter 2: 22) A nation in moral and spiritual apostasy.
Just as ‘Lot a holy man, who had been sickened by the shameless way in which these vile people behaved’ (2 Peter 2:7-8) I too have a heaviness in my soul for the people of this nation who by their actions have turned away from the only one who can offer true freedom, Jesus our Salvation. For outside of Christ there is nowhere safe.

We are now living in the time spoken of by Paul, when he said ‘in the end times, people will be demented by pride, preferring their own pleasure to God, having an outward appearance of religion but having rejected the inner power of it. Have nothing to do with people like that (2 Tim 3:5)
In (1Cor 6: 10-11) most of us miss what Paul said. He said that ‘the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And that is what some of you were ( notice- past tense) But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God’. They were no longer doing the things he was speaking of. They had been set free in Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit.

No longer in Adam but now in Christ, this is the Gospel; but the people of Ireland are not hearing the true Gospel, they have been fed a watered down version that has no power in it.

Adam and Eve are no longer relatives of mine, I divorced them and all the weaknesses and sicknesses and diseases that came from them were dealt with by Jesus on the cross. If you still see yourself as children of Adam and Eve then you are still living the wrong side of the cross.
‘I now belong to Him who was raised from the dead and I no longer live for myself and in Him I am a new creation (new species of humanity) the old has gone (Adam is dead) the new has come (Christ is alive) (2 Cor 5: 15-17)
After Abram defeated the 5 kings who had taken Lot captive, the king of Sodom said to him, ‘give me the people and take the possessions for yourself’. Abram said that he wouldn’t even take a thread or a sandal strap of what belonged to him. Satan is only interested in the souls of men because they are eternal and when Yahweh told Satan that he would eat dust all the days of his life, dust is what we are made of and Satan feeds on the flesh of man. Like St Paul ‘I am not ashamed of the Gospel it can transform anyone who believes in it’ (Rom 1:16). It’s time to stand up and be counted and spread the good news and set free all those held captive by Satan.
